Chapter 3: A Good Essay
Chapter 3
Writing a good essay can be troubling because, the instructions can be completely different. Although, I do have an example made by a Professor (credits of the example go to Professor Lillian Mae):
Standard Essay Formatting
This
is my essay. I am writing an essay here, and this is it. This is just an
essay to show you how an essay should be formatted. There should be no
headers or footers unless you were given specific instructions to
include them. No dates, names, etc... again, unless you were informed to
add them.
Each paragraph should be several sentences long, and
shouldn't look sparse. Don't say things to fill the page, say what you
mean and get to the point. Expand upon your topics, and add opinion if
opinion is due. Do not use smiley faces, slang, or cursing. Capitalize
what needs capitalizing, and use a spell checker if need be.
Do
not add any extra formatting. Do not bold, or italicize, or underline.
Do not change the font's colour, or the background colour. Do not add
anything that shouldn't be here. Stick to the guidelines, stick to the
assignment instructions, and don't waste my time and my assistants' time
by writing work that we will have to skip over.
