The Box Became My Safe Haven
written by Poe
21-year-old Anita is home alone, when a man she barely knows bursts in, ties her up, and abducts her. The attacker imprisons her in his home, keeping her locked up in a cage hours on end. Over the next eight days, Anita clings to life, hoping that someone will find her before it is too late. This is not mine, I found a podcast "I Survived" and I thought I would make a book on some of the podcasts they made.

My Safe Haven
Chapter 5
But the box was far from pleasant. The first day in the box it was so suffocating, there was no air flow, it was horrible and i'm like "i'm not going to survive this". Everything else obviously horrible, like that felt like it was killing me and there was an air conditioner next to the wardrobe and I remember just having my face pressed next to that little corner because it was cool. When he took me out I was like I can't do this and he was like I can't risk you running away and I was like well you need to figure something out. He put a fan on the box and it would allow air to circulate around the box and then the box finally became my safe place. There were times where I was in there for 10 hours but I didn't care because in there I was safe. The next morning when he got up he took her to use the bathroom in the basement, he wouldn't let her out of his sight. After she used the bathroom she went back upstairs and he made breakfast. She refused to eat but she always kept her mind busy on anything but what was happening. Later that night he asked her to play a board game. People always asked her why would you play a board game with him and she said "I think I'd rather play a board game than get killed".
