Short Story - The Making of the First Wand ( Other stuff at the bottom)
Once upon a time, a very long time ago, there was a little girl called Bea, who realized she wasn't like the others. When she was scared or angry, she had little accidents and things started to happen around her. But when she was about ten years old, she had one of those accidents that changed her life.
In the small village where she lived, Bea was known by the villagers as the “strange little girl” and the “funny girl.” When she came into a shop or simply passed in the street, everyone whispered about her and what she did. This was because of something that happened when she was little when she went with her mother to the village to visit a friend.
She was visiting a lady that had a daughter about the same age as her (by then, she was six). They played together several times, but that afternoon, they had a fight and Bea got very angry. She felt a force overpowering her and out of nowhere, many of the rocks from the garden, in which she was playing in, flew in the direction of the other child. Their mothers came to see what happened and realized that the other child, filled with dirt, had broken her arm and was bleeding from the cheek. The lady screamed at the sight of her daughter and asked Bea to get out immediately. Her mother grabbed her and took her home, not knowing what to think, but defend her daughter in every way she could. Bea was kept isolated from the rest of the village until she was nine when she started working as a housemaid, where she found a job. Her father had died when she was little and she only had her mother, who worked all day, but earned very little money. She did the best she could and her accidents didn't happen again, until, one night, the old man to whom she was working, got drunk and very violent. It wasn't the first time that he had gotten like this, but this time, Bea was in the kitchen getting ready to go home. She saw him coming and realized that he wasn't totally there, but it was too late, he came to her and slapped her. She tried to run for the entrance, but he grabbed a knife and threatened her. She got very scared and screamed. She felt the power getting the best of her again and the house started shaking and everything when black. She couldn't see anything. When the shaking stopped, the man was lying on the floor with the knife in his chest. Bea scared went home and told her mother, who told her to pack all the things that she needs as quickly as possible. They were ready before sunrise and they only had time to get as far as the last house in the village, when the alarm rose and everyone went to the old man's house to see what happened. Everybody knew that the last person that had been in the house has Bea, so the angry crowd went to her house and when they saw that she was gone, they concluded that see has guilty and burnt down her house. Bea and her mother knew that they couldn't go back to their village or to any of the next door's one, so they decided to go into a forest, which was said to hide the most horrible things. They wandered around for weeks and weeks, not finding anything wrong with it and when they found a place with only a few trees, they decided to settle down and build a house there.
They lived there for about two years when a very particular thing happen. When her mother had gone to the market in a nearby village, Bea saw something that intrigued her. It was some kind of animal, like a big insect. It was sapphire blue and had wings on the top of its head and a long thin sting at the bottom of the body. She decided to follow it and as she went deeper and deeper into the forest. She realized that the deeper she went, the number of strange creatures around her increased. She saw some horses with wings and others with horns, giants snails, small golden birds, strange fish, small fluffy round animals, small winged creatures… Everything was so wonderful and as she thought, out of this world! She went on exploring these fascinating woods full of the most bizarre creatures. At some point, she found in the ground the most beautiful feather that she had ever seen, with the most vivid colors, it was yellow, orange, and red. She leaned down and grabbed it and decided to keep it. She went on exploring that part of the woods until she came across the most horrid creature. It was a big spider and it was coming for her. She looked around, seeking for some sort of weapon to use, and grabbed a branch from a nearby tree. She pointed it at the wicked creature, but something very strange happened, the branch started to let out some sparks. The spider got hit by them and ran away. She looked at the branch and realized that she was holding it in the same hand in which she was holding the feather. She tested them... she realized that when they were apart, nothing happened, but when they were together, they created a kind of connection. She went home, amazed by her discovery, and created an object, that she called 'wand'... She put the feather inside a bit of wood that she carved. From that day forward, she never had a problem again in controlling herself and carried that 'wand' with her everywhere she went.
