A Note From The Dean Of Students
Chapter 1
Fellow reader and wisdom seeker,
You hold in your hand the first of what I hope to be many publications about our most beloved school. It was at the behest of my students and faculty that this book be written so that it may shed light on our humble institution of magic. While the Columbia Institute might not be as well known as Salem's prestigious school for aspiring witches, we would like to think that when a wizard calls out our name, they do so with pride. For almost 200 years, we have prided ourselves on furthering the education of wizards and witches that can be found on our side of the pond.
On a more personal note, this book will also mark the end of my time as Dean of Students. By the time this is published, the school will be in the hands of my brother, Fredrick. I speak for him when I say that he is more than capable to lead our school to a glorious new future. I have every faith in him as do the teachers.
I now leave you in the hands of our Professor of Magical Antiquities and History, mister Michael J. Gaston.
Happy reading,
Marshal Field II
