Making Potions And Basic Herbs
Chapter 2
Leona woke up the next morning and got out of bed. She went to her greenhouse and gathered some mistletoe berries, aconite, valerian sprigs, leaping toadstool, peppermint, poppy heads, shrivelfigs, rose thorns, rose oil, fluxweed, lovage, motherwart, nettle nux myristica, silverweed, and snakeweed, powdered asphodel, and wormwood and then went back inside the house. Once back inside, she went over to the bookshelf and pulled her book of potions off the shelf. She went and gathered her potion making supplies and set up in the kitchen. She took some powdered root of asphodel, which she was careful not to consume on its own because of its high toxicity, and some wormwood and mixed them together, following the recipe carefully, making the Draught of Living Death, a very powerful sleeping potion that she would only wish on her worst enemies, and luckily, she had plenty of those running around.
After her potion was successfully made, Leona bottled it, labeled it, and placed it in her potions vault, then made her way back to the kitchen to put the rest of her ingredients away and clean up her work space. She went back to her greenhouse where she was busy growing some plants. She had Gillyweed, an aquatic tree, growing outside in the lake, Valerian Root, which possesses sedative powers, Knotgrass, which was fairly tall, having been growing in her greenhouse, though nowhere as tall as it would be in the wild, and Dittany, which had healing powers, not unlike the healing powers/spells Leona possessed through her magical powers. Dittany, Leona thought, was the hardest plant she had ever tried to grow because the conditions in the greenhouse had to be just right.
As she was playing around with her plants, the door to the greenhouse opened, and Leona looked up, as if knowing who it was.
"Hello, Angelo, what's up?"
"Hey, Leona. How are you? I just wanted to tell you that we were planning on having a party for something or other, so you're welcome to come if you want."
"I'm good, thanks for asking. A party sounds great, but I have to get a dress and I'm working with my plants...."
"Your plants will be alright for a night, Leona. If they're anything like you, they'll be fine."
She sighed.
"Alright, just let me get my dress and then I'll be there."
"Great, see you there."
With that, Angelo left the greenhouse and Leona followed him out, intent on buying her dress for the party later that evening.
