Chapter 3
Stop trying to fit in when you were born to stand out
Moving to a new school is a really scary thing. You have to avoid bullies, get good grades and make new friends!!
That’s extremely terrifying.
But most importantly, we all want to fit in. We don’t want to be the ‘odd one out’. The one everyone calls weird, the one everyone teases, the one nobody wants to be friends with. It’s like being the crow in a pack of pigeons.
When I first moved to a new school, I just wanted to fit in. To look like one of them. I didn’t want to stand out. And so I pretended to know everything they were talking about, even though I didn’t.
One night, I was thinking about that, and I asked myself one question : ‘’Why are you so stupid?”
Did I just stop being me? Just to ‘fit in’? When did I become that stupid?
You might’ve heard or seen this atleast once : Be who you are. But isn’t that what matters the most? Why do we have to be someone else? What’s so awesome about that? Nothing. Being the ‘odd one out’ isn’t a bad thing. It means that you’re special and unique!
Luna Lovegood wouldn’t be Luna Lovegood if she didn’t wear radish earrings and didn’t believe in Nargles. She was true to herself, and millions of people all around the world love her because of that.
So, be true to yourself. If you’re nerd, then don’t try to act cool. Hey, being nerdy is cool! You’re an incredibly smart person, and don’t change that. Don’t stop being you.
Question : What are the things that make you you? Me, I would say my determination, and my undying love for my family, my friends and Selena Gomez.
