The girl who leaned on the wrong shoulder
An Inspirational story.
There was once a little girl that had a normal life. An ordinary day to day life, so normal that it was a little strange how perfect her life was. Nothing bad would ever happen to her. She was confident in herself that she could do anything. She believed that with all her heart. But! There was one day in which her confidence in herself failed her. It was her sweet 16 and all the boys were falling for her. It seemed that someone was always falling for her since the day she turned 9. She got a boyfriend, her third one. He was your typical celebrity. A few days later he broke up with her. The boy said kindly “if you say sorry and admit you aren’t perfect then I will come back to you”. The girl refused with a flip of her hair. She stated “I won’t say that! I am perfect!”. The boy sighed to seeing her take her confidence way too far. He broke up with her and deleted her phone number and she never saw him again. She had truly loved him but only because he had always said she was so pretty and beautiful. The boy had enough. Just like all the other people in her life that had left her they were tired of her thinking she could never be wrong or less than perfect. Everything was for her gain. A few weeks after the breakup there was a knock at her door. She flipped her hair over her shoulder seeing the maid wasn’t working today she had to get up and answer the door herself. She walked back straight and looked through the hole in the door. There was no one there. She sighed. She opened the door and found a package on the ground with her name on it. She squealed because she had always believed she and only she should receive packages so she would always get excited when a package was for her. Her love life was dead now or as she would say “relationship status: complicated” according to her blog page. There were hearts on the package. She was unwrapping it ruthlessly tearing it apart when she realized there was a note stapled on. It looked very familiar with the handwriting. She began to read it. It said, “Don’t lean on your shoulder because the weight is too much for you to carry”. She had no idea what this meant. She began to think: “Who is implying that she relies on herself in hard times!!!!”. She opened the package slowly now a little hesitant. Inside was a card, an envelope. She opened it. There were only a few words on the paper. Suddenly a silly thought came up “is this my ex-boyfriend's handwriting?”. Then she noticed it was. It even sounded like him. She read the letter out loud saying: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.” She sat on the entrance a little shaken up. Suddenly she heard a voice in the distance saying something. She jumped up and said, “what do you want!?” as she flipped her hair off her shoulder and gave a look that showed she was demanding answers. Her ex-boyfriend (Jason) said: “God will show you the right path, Amelia you have to trust that he will better than you will”. She ran into his arms and said “alright”.
