Chapter 3
Frisk woke up on a bed of soft flowers. Every part of her body hurt. She was on her back and staring at the hole in the ground so far away. Her stick was on the ground beside her, and it was broken. Frisk painfully pulled herself up. As her eyes adjusted to the darkness, Frisk heard voices. She froze.
The first voice sounded youthful, and it was saying, "Yes, I'm sure!"
There was a second voice, which sounded older that was saying, "It's been a while. I thought they had wisened. But if you think someone fell down, We'll check." Frisk froze, quickly grabbing the broken stick in case she had to fight, but when the owners of the two voices came around the corner, Frisk dropped the stick in astonishment.
In front of her, she was seeing two goat-people, if that was what you call them. Both of them stopped for a second when they saw her, But then the smaller of the two spoke.
"Howdy!" he said nervously. Frisk couldn't have said anything even if she'd tried. "I-I'm Asriel, (I told you it would be different!)" he tried again.
"Um...H-hello?" Frisk managed to stammer. She had no idea what to say. The second one, and older, motherly looking figure, stepped forwards.
"I am Toriel, caretaker of the Ruins," she said kindly. "Every once and a while, a human falls down here, so we check often. Follow me." Frisk really had no choice, since the only other way to go was through the hole in the ceiling, and that obviously wasn't happening. She desperately hoped that she hadn't made the wrong choice as she followed the two whatever-you-call-goat-people out of the small room.
