"Here we have an interesting case. A 14 year old male with a chest that hasn't grown
properly for several years- making him unable to breathe normally. Am I going too fast?"
Top surgeon Claude Beck glanced at the medical students who were taking notes and, as usual, following his morning ward round like a lock of white coated gulls after a fishing boat.
Beck had short graying hair, a square face, a square jaw and looked squarely in the eye even when he had bad news to announce. And right now, he was gazing right into the eyes of his young patient.
