Chapter 2
Tom Marvolo Riddle grew up in the orphanage. He hated it there, and never thought twice about leaving it and going to Hogwarts, once his letter came and he discovered that he was a wizard. At Hogwarts, he was Sorted into Slytherin.
The Gaunts were a direct descendant of Salazar Slytherin, and he, the Heir of Slytherin, opened the Chamber if Secrets and unleashed a basilisk, who did his bidding, accidentally killing a girl named Myrtle. The Chamber of Secrets is opened in the girls bathroom.
The story goes, she was being teased by one of her classmates about her glasses, and she went to the girls bathroom to cry in one of the stalls. She heard a boy's voice outside the stall, and opened the door to tell him to go away, but the last thing she saw was a pair of great, yellow eyes. She has ever since been a ghost crying and moaning in the girls bathroom.
