The landing system originally provided for three different scenarios:
Propulsive landing on land.
Parachute landing, similarly to other American capsules.
Engine-assisted parachute landing, similar to the Russian Soyuz capsule.
In any case, on 19 July 2017 Elon Musk announced that the propulsive landing was canceled in favor of the parachute landing. SuperDraco engines will remain part of the project to abort the mission in an emergency, but landing legs will not be provided. The parachutes have been completely redesigned compared to the Dragon, as they will have to work in a wide variety of scenarios.
