Suddenly I feel ground under my feet. What?! I open my eyes, shocked to see Ava just as she grabs me under my arms and pulls me back over the railing. How did she..? I fall to the ground. I land on my face, and my chin gets cut. I know the pain is there. I know the pain SHOULD be there, but I don’t feel it. I don’t feel anything. Ava, who is so exhausted and can barely breath sits down beside me. She turns me over and lays me on my back, soft and gently. Maybe there is still hope for me? Maybe. All I can see in the car light is her red face full of fear. We stay like that for a while. Neither one says anything. I can feel her keeping an eye on me. When she has calmed down, I meet her gaze.
