Hiding
Chapter 1
All the hurtful words inside my head stay inside my brain. "Are you okay?" they always ask. "I'm fine," is what I respond with. "No, I'm really not," is what I should say, or "I need help." Those words stay in my mouth, on the tip of my tongue. They never come out. The depression inside of me, the darkness, always is masked with color. This darkness keeps on building up, but never shows. They just made an offensive joke. That's okay, laugh along, I tell myself. I laugh, even though it was offensive. "Are you happy?" they ask. My tears are always covered by a mask with a smile on it.
