Chapter 7
~~~Draco's POV~~~
------later------
I walked down to the Great Hall for dinner, my hands shoved deep in my pockets. As I thought more and more about me and Harry, the more angry I got.
Why had I reacted like I had? We could've been good as new, if I hadn't purposely taken it the wrong way!
I spotted Harry as he entered the Hall, and quickened my pace. Maybe, if I could catch up to him...
He suddenly turned around, saw me, and disappeared into the Great Hall. Granger and....Wait, no...that wasn't....
I squinted. Then my face fell. Harry was heading into the Great Hall...with Granger and Weasley by his side.
Keeping my head down, I hurried into the Hall. I saw Harry rushing toward me out of the corner of my eye, and my hopes raised just a bit.
Lifting my head up to greet him, a smile plastered onto my face, I saw the anger in his eyes. Then I noticed his fist flying toward me.
My eyes widening, I ducked down and Harry's fist pummeled thin air.
Standing back up, I narrowed my eyes.
" And what do you think you're doing?" I said, hiding the hurt that swirled inside of me.
" Is it true?!" Harry coughed out, trying to sound tough. But I know him too well. His voice caught, and his eyes shone with tears.
"Wha-What?" I asked, distracted by my poor Harry's pain.
He raised his voice, and pulled back his fist again. " Is it true!" Harry yelled at me.
I scrunched my eyebrows together. What was he talking...
I glanced over Harry's shoulder, where Granger looked distressed and Weasley wore a smirk.
I narrowed my eyes and moved to pounce on Weasley.
" Hey, what do you think you're doing? Don't have a go at my friends! Now answer the question! Is it true?" Harry yelled, his fist pulled back but frozen. I could tell he didn't want to hurt me, but had to. He was waiting for me to say no.
But the fact that he believed whatever Weasley told him, even the tiniest bit doubted me, pushed me over the edge. I knew I shouldn't have been angry at Harry, but I had to be angry at someone!
" If you love your friends so much, it should be easy for you to tell truth from fiction." I said flatly. I noticed Harry's eyes kept darting from me, to Pansy, and back again.
And suddenly, it all clicked. My eyes widened, and my expression softened.
" Oh,Harry, I understand now. No, it's not---"
Harry's fist swung, crashing against my nose and causing blood to gush. I sniffed.My head pounding, I slowly wiped my nose with my sleeve, completely aware that I was only smearing the blood, and stood up straight so that I was a few inches taller than Harry.
I knew he was just being Harry, clouded with fear about his loved ones and being easily persuaded with worry, but still. He went so far as to punch me, and I was still Draco Malfoy.
Which meant that he wasn't leaving without blood on his face, too.
