Chapter 1
Kenzie was sitting on her bed, practicing the ukulele. "C'mon, work." She said, her British accent crisp. She strummed the strings softly, humming along with the song that was playing in the background. Her dirty blonde hair was in a messy braid down her back. Eventually, she learnt the song and was pleased with herself. She set the ukulele down and looked at the time; 12:00 PM. She stood up and headed downstairs to began making lunch. She looked up to see a owl fly towards her. "What on Earth is this?" She questioned, grabbing the letter off the owl which read;
Dear Kenzie Maxwell,
You have been accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Term begins on September the first, we await you letter no later than June 5th. You'll find a list enclosed of what items you'll need. We look forward to seeing you.
Sincerely,
Minerva Mcgonagall (Deputy Headmistress)
Kenzie couldn't believe it. Surely this wasn't one of her parents pranks...right? Hogwarts definitely sounds made-up. Kenzie shrugged, 'oh well, i'll ask them later' she thought to herself, as she continued to make lunch.
"What is that, darling?" Her mother, Nicole, asked later that evening at the dining table.
"It's a letter, mum, from Hogwarts." Kenzie replied. She had found it weird that she had a British accent and her parents didn't.
"What is Hogwarts?" Nicole asked.
"I dunno." Kenzie said.
"Well, it sounds suspicious." Nicole said.
"I'm sure it's not all bad, mum." Kenzie said, standing up and grabbing her plates and putting them in the sink.
"If you say so." Nicole said, standing up and putting her dishes away as well.
"I do say so, now i'm going to go practice the ukulele again." Kenzie said, walking up to her room. She tried to focus on her ukulele playing but that was nearly impossible for her.
