Chapter 6
I was woken up by Remus, who was tossing and turning next to me. I couldn't get back to sleep with him moving, so I whispered his name. he stopped moving. I rolled over to look at him. he was laying on his back, staring at the ceiling.
"Sorry," he whispered. "bad dreams."
"tell me about it," I mumbled, as I wrapped my arms around him.
"I have the same dream every night." he pauses.
"I'm listening."
"right. so in this dream, I go through my transformation. also in my dreams, I can feel things, so that is not a good start. then I go to Hogsmeade as a wolf. I can see my self, but not control my self. for some reason, there are a lot of people in the village, and they don't run. I have to watch myself kill every single person." at this point I hear a choking noise as if he is holding back a sob. I start stroking his hair and this seems to calm him down because after a while he keeps going. "and then I see you, James, and Peter. I have to rip you to shreds. and then I un transform. and I see what I have done."
his voice faltered and he buried face in the blankets. I tried comforting him, but I mush have touched one of his many cuts because he flinched, and curled up. the sound of his crying sent deep pangs of sorrow into my heart. we just laid there for a couple of minutes, my hand on his back, feeling his chest rise and fall. then he rolled over and faced me. even in the low light, I could tell his eyes where red.
"Sorry." he whispered. "you don't need to care."
"no," I said stubbornly. "I do. I am your friend. it's my job to care."
"you're a bit more than a friend now," Remus whispered.
"that doesn't change how I feel."
"it doesn't?" asked Remus, sounding slightly hurt.
"no. because I have loved you like this since day one." I pulled him in closer to me. he nodded.
"me too." I kissed his forehead, and he closed his eyes.
