Chapter 3
I don't know why, but that smile caught me off guard. it didn't make sense, we were best friends, it was natural to smile at someone you've known for the last 4 years. I remember how I met Sirius. on the train, to Hogwarts, we just happened to be sitting in the same compartment. I was reading my book and he and James were making fun of Severus. I didn't pay any attention to them at first. the first words I said to them were, "please shut up, I'm trying to read." then somehow we became as close as brothers. maybe that's why I felt so weird. Sirius was the first friend I had in my life. It is natural to like someone who gave me so much. but he won't feel the same way, I know it. but that smile...
"hey!" Sirius came up to me in the library. "there is an end of exams party tonight, in the old classroom on floor three. all of Gryffindor is going, and so are you!" I glared at him
"no, I'm not. I'm tired, and I need to study." Sirius looked grinned.
"oh come on! loony moony would rather drown in books than drown in butterbeer." then he took my book out of my hands and dropped it on the floor, causing a loud crash. "oops," he said as madam Pince came rushing around the corner.
"Out!" she screeched, "get out of my library and don't come back until you've learned how to respect these fine works of literature! OUT!"
once outside the library I glared at Sirius.
"was that really called for?" Sirius just smiled wider
"It was the only way to get you out of there. how about I promise not to do it again if you come to the party with me." I laughed.
"fine. but this is the last time." even as I said it I knew that it wasn't. Sirius would always find new ways to get me to go to these parties.
I combed my hair and tried to cover up my scars, but it wasn't working. I checked my clock. 11:30. it was time to go. one last time I looked at my self in the mirror. I hoped he thought I looked nice.
