Chapter 14
I woke up to find my self in the hospital wing. at least I thought it was the hospital wing. A witch in white robes came over to me with a clipboard.
"Black. your awake." I was confused. where was I?
"you're in st. Mungos." wait? I said that out loud
"yes. you did."
"How did I get here."
"When you fell, Albus was able to slow your fall, but when the werewolf landed on you, you broke several ribs, witch ended up puncturing a lung. you were brought here a could hours ago. we fixed you up relatively quickly." My heart skipped a beat. Remus was here.
"Where is Remus." She looked at me, confused. "The werewolf."
"He was is a more Sirious condition. His wand was n his hand when he hit the ground. We are not sure what happened, but he has a large wound in his chest. He is also in a coma. We fear that waking him up can worsen his condition. We have to wait for him to come out by him self."
"Will he be ok!" She didn't reply. "Will he make it?"
"We don't know." My heart stopped. If he died. It would be my fault. As well as losing my best friend, my boyfriend, I would have to live with it being my fault.
" can you use ditanny or something to close the wound?"
"It's to deep. Applying ditanny that close to the heart would kill him. He is scheduled for surgery tomorrow. You are free to go." There is no way I was leaving without Remus.
"No. I'm staying here." She looked at me sadly.
"I thought you would say that. He is in room 206 with his parents and two friends." I stood up and ran. I was in room 209 so Remus was just down the hall. I opened the door to see James, Peter, and two people I assumed to be his parents. remus was in a bed. His eyes were closed. The group around his bed turned to me.
"It's my fault." I whispered. I was talking to his parents more than anyone else. " it's my fault. If I hadn't been drunk, if I hadn't said those things, it I hadn't jumped. It's my fault." They just looked at me, then the woman smiled.
" it's not your fault. It's no ones fault."
" yah, well we always knew I was no one." I didn't know why I was cracking jokes. It just helped ease the pain. I started crying. I ran out of the room and went to a bath room. I locked my self in a stall and sat on the toilet with the lid down. I pulled my knees to my face and just let the tears and pain overcome me. I could have sat there for hours Before I heard a knock.
"Sirius. Open up."It was James. Shaking, I stood up and opened the stall door. He looked at me for a second, my hair a mess, my eyes red, then hugged me. "It's not you fault. Remus wouldn't blame you, so neither do I."
"How do you know he wouldn't?"
"We talked about it. Just because he didn't talk to you for two weeks, doesn't mean he didn't talk to us." I have to say, that made me feel better. He helped me rinse my face and fix my hair, and then guided me back to Remus room. Remus was gone.
"He was bumped up the surgery list. He is being healed now." A healer wizard tried to calm me down, but I was panicking. If he dies in there, I wouldn't be able to say goodbye. I occupied the next two hours by pacing up and down the hallway outside the operating room. Finally, six healers bushed a streature through the door. Remus was in it. One of the healers looked at me and said,
"He is going to be fine."
