Chapter 4
“ Saleen… Saleen,” my mother says bringing me back to reality “ It is homework time here but, obviously not in your brain, I know you understand this but, you still need to do it” she pressed.
“ yes, mother I apologize,” I say apologetically, my mother smiles as if saying this was the exact answer she was looking for. I worked on my homework until I was sure I got every problem correct and went to bed. I woke up the next morning and rushed through my meal, then got to school. At first meal, I take a deep breath to get my assigned amount of food and my choice of sugar. Today I had steak, green beans, and potatoes, my favorite, the sugar I choose is chocolate chip cookie. I sit next to Blake and started talking
“ Could we switch our activity to track today?”
“Why,” he asks I know he does not like the track so this is a reasonable response
“ because I need to talk to you,” I whisper quietly
“ ok, but why not do it here,” he chuckles that laugh that I love and puts a goofy grin on his face he stops because he realized I am not joking.
“ because it's private” I whisper again and make a small gesture to the rest of the lunchroom. His face goes completely serious “okay”.
