Is This How it Begins?
Chapter 2
Ama and her family were going into the kingdom to sell some of their vegetables they had grown. They were farmers so they hadn't been kicked out of the kingdom. They let me sit in the back of their wagon with Ama for the journey. It was long and bumpy, I tried to remember, left turn, right turn, middle fork, but after a while I got bored. "So, you're really... royalty?" Ama whispered excitedly, "No." I replied stubbornly. I refused to say that I was royalty, I hadn't grown up as such, therefore, I was not. Ama looked disappointed, "I mean... I'm royalty by blood. But you know me, I can't be something I wasn't brought up as." I said. Ama brightened, "Well, that doesn't matter for anyone else! You know how everyone else is! They'll consider you royalty! But don't forget about me!" She said eagerly. "Impossible, you'll come barging into the castle screaming about that one time that my aim was so off that I shot an arrow at a boys head instead of the target." I laughed, "At least you didn't hit him!" Ama said.
The kingdom was huge! It glittered in the sun and looked as though it were made of gold! I couldn't help but grin, I had never seen a place so big! We rode through the crowded streets to the market. There we got off of the wagon and I helped Ama and her family empty it of their vegetables. I didn't know how I was going to get to the castle, and once I did I wasn't sure how I would convince them that I was related to the royal family. What with my unwashed hair, and rags for clothes it would be more believable if I said I was related to a maid. I bid Ama's mother and father goodbye, but Ama decided to accompany me to the castle. I was glad for her presence, the kingdom was big and loud, I had never felt this small in the outskirts. Hopefully Ama would know the way the the castle. "So, where do we go?" Ama asked me. I stared at her, "W-where do we go?" I asked, "I was hoping you knew the way!" I said, the kingdom was starting to feel bigger and bigger, meanwhile, I was feeling smaller and smaller. "Excuse me sir? But could you point me in the direction of the castle?" Ama asked politely, the man looked down at her then pointed East, "That way, but you won't have any luck if you want to speak to the royal family. You would have a longer conversation with my duck." He said, then he walked away.
