Lesson 4: Objects to Frogs

Chapter 4
~Natural Transformations

-phase changes (water boiling, ice melting, etc)
-2 types of insect transformations: Hemimetabolism, or incomplete metamorphosis, and complete metamorphosis, aka Holometabolism
-Hemimetabolism =series of molts an insect sheds
-Holometabolism=most common, butterflies, moths, mosquitos. 4 life stages - egg, larva, pupa, imago
-Amphibians have a 3 part transformation
-egg, larvae (with legs, etc), adult

~Amphibians

-includes frogs, toads, and salamanders
-over 6000 species
-ectothermic
-no scales
-tetrapods, metamorphosis
-1/2 life in water, 1/2 on land
-thin skin but prone to drying out
-require water to breed/lay eggs

~The Transformation

-Block:
Spell: Object to Frog
Incantation: Ranafors (RAH-nah-fors)
Wand Movement: Simple jab at target
Concentration: Medium-High - focus on life stage and movement of frog
Willpower: Medium

-Backfires: croaking object, stone frog, underdeveloped frog
-should be able to hop from one side of desk to the other
-you’re focusing a little too much on musculature and not enough on direction if frog does backflips
