Lesson 2: Objects and Fish
Chapter 2
~Fish
-live in water
-breathe through gills
-gills filter oxygen through the water and release carbon dioxide back into it
-gills perform gas exchange, equivalent to our lungs
-5 fins control balance, acceleration, and steering
~Environment
-consider quality of existence
-do have a limited sense of feeling/emotion
-be sure to have water
-always consider *why* you are transforming something into a creature
~The Transformation
-pick your starting object
-have to be inanimate and an appropriate size
-can be used to transfigure almost any species/size of fish
-only limitation is your own willpower
-seems to work best on petals and leaves
-Block:
Spell: Object to Fish
Incantation: Piscifors (PISS-ih-fors)
Wand Movement: point wand at target
Concentration: Medium - focus on target morphing into a fish, focusing on the respiratory system and fins especially
Willpower: Medium
-fish may still be a bit brain dead
-focus attention to breathing and movement of fish
-fish may lack a dorsal fin or gills if concentration is low
~Origins
-Alan Simon in 1892 to get around the food exception
-fish could not be killed bc it was never really alive
-wouldn't stop moving
-spell was soon banned from all fishing contests
-don't use around nature since a real fish could try eating it and get hurt
~Double Transformations
-transforming an already transformed object
-ex: bottle to fish, fish to flower
-willpower/concentration will be lower than when casting on natural object
-transformed creature has much less of a will
-double transformations only need to be untransfigured once to return to original state
