Chapter 6
‘’-and then I poured coffee all over her brand new shoes’’ Isabelle laughed loudly. We were in the café, and I told her all my embarrassing moments, and there were a lot. ‘’You’re so clumsy Lyn’’ She had started calling me ‘Lyn’ which was odd, since all of my friends call me ‘Eve’.
‘’Whatever. Where shall we go now?’’ We had been talking in café for an hour, no wait, two hours. ‘’My house. We can play chess. I still don’t believe you’re an expert in it’’ Why do people think that? Can’t they see from my sparkling eyes that I possess special powers? Ok, I don’t have sparkling eyes. And those ‘special powers’ are that I’m good at writing and chess. And I’m quite funny.
‘’Checkmate’’ Isabelle sighed deeply and pretended to cry. ‘’I told you I’m an expert’’ We had been playing for so long and I won every single time. Isabelle was good too, but not as much as me. I had been playing since my childhood. There was this boy who always used to bully me in elementary school. He was really good at chess, so in order to defeat him, I started practicing too. I would read books on how to play amazingly and I’d ask my parents to play with me so much that they started to hate chess. One day I defeated that boy. The look on his face was priceless.
‘’I accept. You truly are the champ’’ She went out of the room ‘’I’ll bring some snacks’’. Isabelle’s room was huge. There was a desk in which there were loads of textbooks. There was also many pieces of artwork. Did she paint those?
‘’Here you go’’ There was so much food I immediately forgot about that. We talked and talked and talked. She wanted to be an architect. I told her about my writing skills. ‘’What are your books about?’’ Her eyes reminded me of Annabeth. She was also really smart. Who am I like? Leo?
‘’I’m writing a mystery novel series. There are only 6 more chapters to complete the first book. Wait, I’ll show you’’ I searched through my bag. Where is it?
‘’What happened?’’ Isabelle looked as tensed as me ‘’My laptop. It’s gone’’
