Chapter 1
One, two, three.....''And don't forget to hand in your assignments tomorrow!''. Finally. I'm telling you, schools make the most slowest clocks in the world. It felt like a hundred centuries, sitting in History class. And assignments. They're the worst. I haven't had a good night's sleep for a week. English assignment, Biology assignment, History assignment. If I heard the word assignment one more time, I'm going to ..... I don't know.
''Evelyn! Evelyn!'' I look behind to see Sofia. Not her again. She only talks to me when she needs help. And I'm not in the mood to help anyone. ''Can you -'' She begins, and I already know what she's going to say, so I interrupt her. ''I have to look after my little cousin, so I'm busy'' I lie. My cousin doesn't even stay here. My family is in New York, while I'm in LA.
Before she says anything, I walk off. Should I take the books from my locker? I have to complete that assignment. It's so far away, though. Whatever. I'm sure there's some information in Wikipedia. There's a lot of information there.
If everything is so easy access, why do schools even exist? You can search anything you want as long as you have your phone. And internet connection. Even if you don't , Wi-Fi is there. You can search up everything. Schools are useless.
What's the time now? It's already 5? Now, if I watch one HP movie, then it'll only take , like , 2 hours. But I won't stop with 1 movie. I'm also really sleepy. So that'll take almost 1 hour .
You idiot! Coffee exists for a reason! says the smart voice inside my brain. It's always sleeping, so it's a rare occurrence that it woke up.
Are there any coffee shops here? Of course there is, I always go to that local cafe to write my books. It's my favourite place. And I forgot about it. I need to file a complaint against the History teacher for making me lose my brain cells.
The cafe is only a 10 minute walk. ''An iced coffee please'' I ask. It was always my favourite. There's black coffee as well. Maybe I'll try it next time.
The cafe is pretty empty, which is perfect. Coffee works best when you drink it in a quiet spot. I should drink more coffee. It's really good.
After a few minutes, I take out my laptop. My drowsiness is gone, which I find highly surprising. I never knew that coffee is such a great drink.
Which chapter am I writing? 46? Good job Evelyn, you've worked hard. My chances of becoming an author are getting higher by each day. Maybe I'll be really famous one day.
My thoughts are cut short by the waiter, who says the price of the iced coffee. That is when I realise a shocking truth: I forgot my wallet.
