Chapter 5
I slid down a tree, and, exhausted, I halfheartedly cast the routine protection spells. I sighed. I had killed four Muggles that day, out of sheer spite. I knew that they weren't the cause of Kayra's death, or even a bit of the reason, but I was just...so angry.
I had been alerted of Kayra's death a week after. I shook my head. What did it even matter? She had already been dead to the world.
I prepared to get a little sleep, not even noticing the twig snap or the shadow that fell over me.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I woke up to see a man staring at me. Naturally, I screamed, grabbed the nearest stick, and whacked him across the face with it.
He fell to the ground, clutching his face and muttering.
I laughed nervously, but I was not, in the least, afraid. " Who are you? Answer me, or I'll-I'll do worse!" I said, raising the stick.
" Wha-Janie, it's me!"
I lowered the stick. I recognized the voice, but did not want to admit it. I whacked him again anyway.
" Why-How did you follow me?" I hissed.
The wizard shrugged. " Don't you even want to know who I am?"
" No, not really. Introductions aren't needed in this world anymore." I said, licking my lips.
" I am Willialas, Janie. I'm Rose's granddaughter?" The man, Willialas, said.
I ran my hands along the stick. " Rose, who?"
" The woman who put you in Azkaban, and-"
His sentence was cut off as I rushed up to him, so close I could feel the warmth of his breath.
" The woman," I breathed, " who killed my sister...is your grandmother."
Willialas swallowed. " If it makes you feel better, my grandmother is dead now."
" Good. Why are you here, why did you help me, what is my well-being to you?" I said, not moving.
He shrugged. That was an awful habit. " My allies call me Will."
I shook my head. " Answer my questions. And we're not allies."
Willialas dropped to the ground, and yawned dramatically. " I'm tired, Janie. Can you kill me tomorrow? 'Night!" And with that, he curled up tighter yet, and began snoring.
I rolled my eyes, and slid onto the ground, as well. I couldn't help but smile at his words.
But he and I were not allies. We are still not.
Kayra and I were allies. I didn't need another one to die.
Still, Willialas would be a good ally...
I smirked.
Good for him.
Better than having me as an enemy.
