The Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Plants gives classifications to all known herbs, fungi, trees, flowers and other plant life. These offer an at-a-glance guide to the perceived dangerousness of a plant. The five categories are as follows.

XXXXX: Known wizard killer / Contain in greenhouse with extreme caution

XXXX: Dangerous and/or clearly sentient / Requires specific knowledge / Only experienced wizards should attempt to grow

XXX: Several interesting properties / Competent wizards should be able to grow

XX: Few interesting properties / Easy to grow

X: Boring / No effort needed to grow
