Chapter 16
In all of my travels, I have learned many things about the many plants that I have gathered and discovered. However, with all of this discovery of plants in distant lands, there has been one danger that I have observed: plants growing on places that they haven't in the past. These alien plants are a danger because they can overtake native populations of plants causing them to be wiped out. This can be done in a number of ways from taking too much water from the native plants to attracting insects that the native plants have not adapted to. It is also important that plants are kept in their native habitat so we can learn potential properties about them. For example, pregnant crups will often eat largrass, which lead to the discovery that largrass helps ease morning sickness. If it wasn't for this plant being in its native environment, then we might have never learned of this property so imagine how many other properties of plants have been lost because of leaving their native environment.
