After Hours.
Chapter 4
It was the next day and I was still amazed I had been hugged by someone. It wasn't even the fact it was Janie but that I HAD BEEN HUGGED! Janie acted like it was perfectly fine thing to do, but Brandon has already promised that he was never going to let go of it. Endless teasing at the Great Hall and in the dorm room had proved that. Janie had woken me up at about four am. "What do you want?" I asked after being shaken awake. This was the problem with nocturnal friends. "You won't beillive what I found!" she said happily jumping quietly. "Come on you DO NOT want to miss this! I think it disappears, because it wasn't here yesterday or last night!" "What do you mean by that?" I asked rubbing my eyes. As long as she was talking the longer I could stay in bed. "You'll see it when we get there! Come on! And quietly, sometimes teachers roam the halls." "Wait-" "Shhhh!" I think Dean is waking up!" She dragged me out the door and into the hall. "Wait Janie," I whispered. "it's after hours! Do you know how many points will be taken for this?" "Yep." She responded. "But last night I just pretended I was sleep waking and Minerva fell for it. That's the only reason I came back early." "So, what's EARLY for you?" I frowned we were near the third floor now. "Well midnight is about nine for me-" "Janie," I cut her of, making her upset. "Were near the third floor corridor. We can't break that many rules in one night!" "Brody calm down," She said irritated. "I'm taking the same steps as last time just in case that's how it works." "Wait are you even looking for?" I said looking around for Peeves the poltergeist at Hogwarts. He had a special skill that allowed him to eavesdrop on any conversation. "A room." she replied. "A ROOM?" I whisper-yelled. "WERE DOING THIS OVER A ROOM?" "Brody, Shut Up!" I stopped, Janie looked worried, that always lead to something really bad. "I hear growling..." "What?" I snapped. This hallway was giving me a bad... everything. Janie slowly started walking towards a loud rumbling sound I hadn't noticed until now. "What is that?" When she didn't anwser I fallowed her ,even though self was screaming like I was about to die, witch was a stupid thing really. Hogwarts was one of the most safe places in the world. As we got nearer the growling got louder, and louder until Janie held up a hand to signal to stop. "What is it?" I asked quietly. She moved over. There was a large door were the loud growing was coming from. "Whoa." Janie breathed. "Are you really excited about this?" I questioned. Nodding she reached towards the handle and turned before I could do or say anything she shoved the door open. Inside was a giant, grayish black, three headed dog with huge yellow teeth and long dirty claws. Janie screamed, though it sounded more happy then scared I grabbed her hand anyway and pulled out of the dog's sight. After a few seconds she started running as well. Soon we were back in the Gryffindor common room I spat into the dead fire. "Is that what you wanted to show me? Risk our lives just so see some stupid DOG?" "Well- no that was not where I was headed, no. I didn't know a three headed dog lived here! I wonder if it has a name?" she added thoughtfully. Just when I was about to try to get her back to the real world were three headed dogs don't have names, a group of for burst through the portrait panting. "Wh-what are YOU doing here?" I asked directing the question to the leader of the group, Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, and Neville Longbottom the kid who made their cauldron blow. "Hey Brody?" Janie asked quietly so only I could hear. "Isn't that the kid who's potion exploded all over the classroom?" I nodded, a huge grin split on her face. I could tell it was taking all her self-control not to burst out laughing."What are you guys doing after hours?" Harry asked going over by the fire and sat down in a big scarlet chair. "I could ask the same about you!" I said, frowning. I wonder if they were looking for the mystery room as well? "Well-er-," stammered the red-headed boy, a little taller than me with freckles covering his face. "Well, we're prefects! We were checking the halls." He finished in the most fake posh voice I've ever heard. "Well." Janie started pausing to make sure she had everyone's attention. "One there are two many of you to all be prefects. Two, you guys are in the same year as us and aren't old enough to be prefects. And three, why are you panting like a dog?" She asked, putting pressure on the word 'dog' and 'three'. She somehow knew that the group had also seen the three headed beast, and smirked when their eyes widened. "How-?" Harry started. "I saw you leave for a duel with Malfoy!" Janie said proudly. "And I sat near you when he walked over and asked, remember? AND I heard Peeves yelling 'students out of bed' when Brody and I were exploring." I rolled my eyes. "You woke me up at four am to go 'exploring' if that's what you would call it. More like running for our lives. And when did you even HEAR Peeves yelling?" I asked. "After we left seeing to cute puppy!" Cute? I thought. "That thing was disgusting!" I was so confused. "How, in the name of Merlin, was that C-" But then we heard footsteps coming from the hall. "Run." Hermione whispered, who had been scolding Harry and Ron about some trap door. "If you're left behind because you were to slow Potter just pretend you're asleep. It works." I said before leaving with Ron and Neville and sprinting into the first year dorm and shutting the door behind me (after everyone was in obviously) and shut the curtains around my bed. Pretending to be asleep I heard someone shuffling into the room. "If anyone was after hours you're going to be in trouble!" Came a graveling sing-song voice of Argus Filch the Hogwarts caretaker. He pecked through the curtains of the beds no bothering to be quiet he said. "Come my sweet, we will find the students and turn them in." his voice slowly faded away. "Oh their going to be in so much trouble they are!" and yelled PEEVES!" when a huge crash came from the floor above.
