Chapter 9
"Hermione kissed me on the cheek." I texted Ron, just to make him angry and jealous. "WHAT? WHY?" He responded. And I could tell that he was fuming. "Because I didn't cheat on her!" I typed. "WHAT? You guys dated?" I laughed after reading this. "Of course not! But she's more likely to kiss me on the cheek than you!" I didn't wait for him to reply. I hadn't texted him in ages and I had a lot to say. "And anyway, if you miss her then why are you prancing around with Miss Cheater-Girl?" "How do you know about that?" He texted back. "Do you think that I just showed up in Hogsmeade out of the blue? Hermione asked me to come, I've been texting her ever since you made the world's stupidest decision! She's told me everything!" Ron didn't seem to have a response to this so I put my phone down and decided to do some more work on the shop.
I stayed up all night working on the shop and by morning it looked totally different. I went to bed at 6:23 a.m. I woke up a few hours later, I didn't feel necessarily refreshed, but it would keep me going until nighttime. "When's the next Hogsmeade trip?" I texted Hermione. I didn't expect her to text back immediately since she would be in lessons, so I was surprised when she did. "You know that there's a month in between each one." I groaned, I had forgotten. "I'll be waiting here then, but I can't see you again sooner?" I asked. "I have to go to Charms, see you later." My heart dropped, she couldn't answer.
I really liked Hermione. I mean, I liked hanging out with her. That's all. Nothing else. That's it. That night I was getting into my bed, ready for a good nights sleep, when there was a knock on my door. I sighed and got out of bed. I walked downstairs and opened the door. I looked around blearily, but there was no one there. As I closed the door I could have sworn that I felt something run past me, like a large dog. I looked around the room, but I didn't see anything. I was tired, I must be imagining things. I turned around to go back upstairs.
"George!" Someone whispered. I whipped around, "Yeah?" I asked warily. I saw movement and then a lantern flickered into life. It was Hermione. "What are you doing here? You're going to get in trouble!" I said quietly. But nevertheless, the sight of Hermione standing there made me happy, I wasn't feeling nearly as tired anymore.
