Introduction:

  • Astronomy is not Divination
  • Astrology deals with position of planets
  • Astronomy and Astrology are two different subjects
  • Astrology is more like Divination
  • Muggle Astronomy is not Wizarding Astronomy
  • Example: Wizarding astronomers study how the movement of celestial bodies effect withces and wizards on Earth
  • Astronomy - the study of astronomical objects that are beyond Earth's atmosphere
  • Includes: 8 planets, dwarf planets, the stars, and galaxies
  • Our culture has always become one with the space and everything in space
  • Planets are named after myths
  • Mercury is named after the Roman god of thievery
  • Solar System - composed of planets, asteroids, and other celestial bodies
  • Eight planets:
    1. Mercury
    2. Venus
    3. Earth
    4. Mars
    5. Jupiter
    6. Saturn
    7. Uranus
    8. Neptune
  • Pluto = dwarf planet
  • All 8 planets revolve around a single star (the sun)
  • Moons revolve around their own planet
  • Our solar syatem is more than four billion years old
