Introduction:
- Astronomy is not Divination
- Astrology deals with position of planets
- Astronomy and Astrology are two different subjects
- Astrology is more like Divination
- Muggle Astronomy is not Wizarding Astronomy
- Example: Wizarding astronomers study how the movement of celestial bodies effect withces and wizards on Earth
- Astronomy - the study of astronomical objects that are beyond Earth's atmosphere
- Includes: 8 planets, dwarf planets, the stars, and galaxies
- Our culture has always become one with the space and everything in space
- Planets are named after myths
- Mercury is named after the Roman god of thievery
- Solar System - composed of planets, asteroids, and other celestial bodies
- Eight planets:
- Mercury
- Venus
- Earth
- Mars
- Jupiter
- Saturn
- Uranus
- Neptune
- Pluto = dwarf planet
- All 8 planets revolve around a single star (the sun)
- Moons revolve around their own planet
- Our solar syatem is more than four billion years old
