Choosing Wands
Chapter 5
After the sorting was done, all the first years followed the lady that was called Professor Berlin. she led us to a part of the castle that was loaded with wand shelves. Bethany was excited to get her wand first. She looked at the wand maker.
"Welcome children!" said the wand maker, "I will give you your wands. Okay, Bethany! You shall go first since you had to be sorted last." Bethany picked up a wand that was on a middle shelf. the wand maker told Bethany it was holly wood, phoenix feather core, nice and supple, and 11 3/4. He also said it was the wand of Harry Potter.
A flick of the wand made the wands made the wands form a perfect picture. The wand maker didn't have to tell me that it was the right wand. The fact that it was Harry Potter's same wand was interesting. I picked it up. It was a really rather light wand.
Julie's wand was made out of Ash wood and a unicorn hair core. It looked very pretty as well. "That's a cool wand", Julie told Bethany, "It's also cool you got the same wand as Harry Potter!" "Thanks", she replied, "Yours is pretty."
Bethany and Julie spent a lot of the day complimenting each others wands. eventually, some other Thunderbird kids joined in in the discussion. A few Horned Serpents even joined!
That night at the common room, Julie and Bethany tried casting spells. "Accio Guitar!" Julie shouted. Of course, nothing happened. "Here", Bethany said, "Lumos!" Nothing happened again. The girls complained they wouldn't be successful witches because, they couldn't cast a spell without learning it.
