Why Not Hogwarts?
Chapter 1
Bethany White was turning 11 that week. She was hoping to attend Hogwarts but, her mother told her otherwise. "Mom, why can't I go to Hogwarts?" Bethany would ask. "Because, you would be a disgrace to the White family", her mom would answer. "Is there anywhere closer?" Bethany would rudely asked. There was always silence after that.
Bethany still couldn't see why she couldn't attend Hogwarts. And where was she going to go instead? She didn't understand why her mom never told her. "Please tell me which school I am attending... please", she pleaded. "Isolt. Leave it at that", she answered.
"Why does she always say Isolt?" Bethany wondered, "Isolt doesn't change anything. I do not know of any Isolts." Bethany believed eventually she would get the answer but, she wanted it now. She needed the answer quickly.
Bethany had a habit of listening to her parent's conversations when she was supposed to be in bed. She believed that listening to them would give her the answers to all of her questions. They didn't though. They were mostly talking about what was happening at MACUSA but occasionally, there would be some Quidditch discussions. She usually ignored those ones.
Bethany had lived through a long line of witches and wizards. Her family's magical blood traced back to the 1500's. Most of her family had worked for MACUSA. But, Bethany had no intention of working for America. She wished to move to London and work for the Ministry of Magic. Her family was always like, "What, Bethany?!" or, "Bethany, you will not do that!" Despite the comments, Bethany still worked to become a future Minister for Magic.
