The Next Step To Note Taking
Chapter 2
1. Never Take Down Too Much
When you highlight everything, you highlight nothing. Only take down the most important things, and the information that will be needed in the assignments and/or in future years. Go with your instinct on what is important, and what you should take notes on.
2. Go Through Your Notes After Each Lesson
Just taking the notes isn't enough. Going through them to make sure they make sense is a whole other step that will make it that much easier to utilize in the future. If the notes make sense, then it it time to add your personal notes to the notes you have so far. Choose a different font, or color, and write notes on the notes so you can always understand them.
3. Save Them In a Good Place
If notes get lost or damages, they are no longer any good to you. You have to put them in a good place (if they are electronic) or out of harms way (if they are physical). Water should never be near them, and you should not put them in a jumble of documents. They are of value to you, and they should be treated with care.
4. Don't Doodle
Notes should be clear and organized. You shouldn't play with the font, color, and size, if you want to look back at them for help. You should never doodle on the corners, because that is just disgraceful. Never dog ear the pages, or make borders. Notes should be a way to show off all the hard work you put in to each lesson.
