"Good luck, Victoria. Do try to have fun. And be safe. If you must come home, write and send to us," my father said as I reached an empty compartment on the train to Hogwarts. I nodded and leaned out of the window to kiss my mother and father good-bye for the entire year before summer. I was quite nervous, and wasn't sure if I could be safe without the king and queen of England or my bodyguards with me. I leaned back from the window as the train began to gush steam and move. I sat by myself for a few minutes, then someone entered the compartment and sat down opposite me, quite rudely, and with a lazy saunter, without invitation.
"So....The future queen of England," she said, with a sneer. "A Mudblood queen. I hope you won't bring Hogwarts to its downfall this year."
The door slid open once again, and her friend walked in, and he said, "Aislinn, what are you doing? We should be going, the trolley cart will be here soon, we shouldn't be late for it."
"A minute, Adam. I'm trying to deal with this Mudblood." Aislinn patted the spot next to her, and Adam sat down. Well, I didn't know what "Mudblood" meant, but I could tell it was not something pleasant. Here was my first hurdle, surviving taunts and threats.
"My, brother, the twit Adam," Aislinn gestured to Adam. "He and I will be starting our first year here at Hogwarts, like you, Mudblood. We will be keeping a close eye over you if you're not in Slytherin. Don't know why you would be, but just so you're warned."
"Slytherin?" I wondered. "Mudblood?" Aislinn smirked and Adam chuckled. I could tell I was being rather stupid, but the truth was, I had not a clue about the Wizarding word.
"'Mudblood, you twit, is something to describe a half-muggle like you. It means you do not belong. It means you have dirty, despicable blood, and should either leave the Wizarding world or die."
Aislinn's words shocked me.
"Slytherin," she continued, "is the best house to possibly get into at Hogwarts. Salazar Slytherin, the greatest wizard in the world made it for pure-bloods like us. I'd rather die than not get into Slytherin. So would Adam."
I was dead meat if all wizards and witches were like this.
