The next Weasley starting Hogwarts got put in Gryffindor, Ron Weasley and it seems Harry did too. I saw my uncle give him this look of complete disdain. Then Harry looked at him and it was like he was stunned. I’ve never seen him look like that before. I tried to be friends with people but it was really difficult. The Slytherins kept telling me I should be with them, there was a group in Hufflepuff that were nice in the year above me and a few Ravenclaws that were easy to make friends with. Last year my results had been fairly good so I needed to continue with what I think were quite high expectations of me. For some reason people thought that I would be good at subjects simply because I was a Snape. I was good at Defence against the Dark Arts although recently I had been getting headaches in class. As a transfigurist you would have thought transfiguration would have been easy but I found it difficult to do all the theory. We had the best Christmas ever because Mr and Mrs Weasley went to Romania so all the Weasley’s stayed with us, at Hogwarts. I was now friends with Cedric Diggory in the Hufflepuff group. I needed help in potions class and he needed help with practical transfiguration. Whether he did or not, I don’t know. It was hectic and by the end, there was a lot of talk, uncle was in a panic, Professor Quirrell had gone, along with my headaches and Fluffy was back in the forest after a mysteriously long absence.

My summer was fun. I went on holiday with my uncle to Paris, although that was more of a memorial service. Then I was allowed to go to Leanne’s house for a week and the Weasley’s for a week. In general, they would bring me back to Knockturn Alley to get me supplies for school all at the same time. This year I was to do it myself. Ginny Weasley was starting and we had a new defence against the dark arts teacher Gilderoy Lockhart. This was not going to go well. I could already tell that my uncle distrusted him, and that meant I was weary. Everyone else, especially the girls, thought he was marvellous. I wanted to wait and judge. His smile was far too big for my liking. I thought he was hiding too much.

In September, I started dating Cedric Diggory. We kept it between us to start with but nothing stays secret for long. Fred thought it was funny, George thought it was wrong, Leanne thought it was brilliant. His friends liked me, but others wondered what he saw in me, to be honest so did I. Cedric at one point was jealous of Fred and George because they were my best friends and probably used me as a weapon on the Quidditch Match. By November we went to my uncle and asked permission. I know it sounds old fashioned but that is what our family was like.
