Today was Elphaba's eleventh birthday, and she was very excited to get her Hogwarts letter. As soon as she finished reading it, she ran upstairs to tell her father.
"I know." He said before she could even show him the letter. He turned toward her. "I work there."
Suddenly, all of the excitement left her body as she realized that her father was not happy, and he probably never would be. The only thing that would change was the amount of time they'd spend in the same room. Severus Snape generally liked to be alone, so Elphaba left him that way, and she tried not to bother him too much. But today would be different. She would make him spend time with her. They had to go shopping for supplies after all.
