They gave us the word "loneliness"
Chapter 1
On the first day of sixth grade, I was so excited and nervous! This was a big change because starting today I would be in middle school. What I did not expect was for it to be so difficult. Everyone wore certain clothes to fit in. Those were expensive clothing most of the time. At lunch how in the world were you supposed to socialize when everyone was on their phones? You had to be in a popular group to be popular. The pressure was on with all the assignments that we had to complete. But the thing that bothered me most was feeling lonely. You once could talk to your parents, now you can’t tell them about the crazy things that happen in your head. It feels like a betrayal when the best of your friends decide to leave you. You must decide for yourself if you want to be in a relationship so young. Sometimes you decide to be in the relationship and then the person breaks up with you. You can’t tell your parents because you're trying to keep it from them. You can’t tell your friends because they've left you. You can’t tell teachers because they’d blame you for having a relationship in the first place. So, you can’t tell anyone but that one cousin you see once a year who’s great at advice. So, since you feel like you have no one to turn to or anyone to trust you feel like giving up. You bring your legs up to yourself and cry until there are no more tears and you feel dehydrated. Loneliness, it’s a bad feeling. Loneliness looks like when you sit alone at a table. When you don’t have people to text. When you're truly alone you’ll know because you’ll have given up on looking for attention. You know at that point no one will give it to you anyways.
