Her half-dark, half-light wavy curls fell into her face, shimmering in the morning light. A shadow fell over her, the figure jumping up and down, obviously giddy. Her red hair bounced up and down, and then the redhead leaned down to the sleeping girl's head.
"Wake up, Mione, wake up!!! Hurry up and wake up!!!" she practically screamed. Ginny grabbed both of Hermione's arms and attempted to drag her up. Although she was still half-sleeping, Hermione let her body go limp and wriggled out of Ginny's grasp.
"Ginny, let me sleep... I'm so tired!" She ended in a lion's yawn as Hermione fell back down again to the bed. Ginny huffed and frown. She crossed her arms and told her, "If you don't get up, I'm telling Mcgonagall you snuck out last night to the Forbidden Forest." As soon as Ginny said that, Hermione shot up so fast Ginny stepped back in shock, but with a smirk on her face. "I'm getting up, I'm getting up," Hermione growled.
She swung her legs out of the bed and got up, stretching her slender figure. "Why are you so giddy anyway? Did I miss something?" Hermione asked, sliding on her Gryffindor robes. Ginny nodded excitedly, the news coming back to her mind. "Mcgonagall announce that a ball will be held Friday night!!!" she screamed, jumping up and landing on Hermione's bed.
Hermione frowned. "How do you know? It's too early in the morning, you know, Ginny." Sighing, Ginny replied, "Mione! She made the damn announcement last night after you left! And an owl came to us all earlier, and being the sleepyhead you are, you missed the owl. It left the note but flew away. I totally forgot all about it until the owl came!" She finished rambling.
Hermione listened to this all as she slid her wand up her sleeves and started walking out of the room. "Coming to breakfast?" she called over her shoulders. "How could I not? I'm starving."
The redhead took only a few strides to catch up to Hermione and both girls slid down the slide, giggling. Some things certainly were the same, even after the battle. Face darkening just thinking about the battle, Hermione shook her head to clear her mind and got up, seeing Harry waiting for them with a warm smile on his face.
"Mione!" he called. engulfing her in a tight hug as soon as she reached him. Hermione laughed and hugged back. Harry placed a kiss on her head and grinned down at her. "Had a good sleep?"
"She wanted to sleep late until I threatened her," Ginny piped up next to Hermione. She looked at Harry sharply. "Your girlfriend's here too, just so you know,' she remarked. Hermione laughed. Harry smiled and wrapped his arms around Ginny tightly and kissed her lips.
"I can't ever forget about you no matter how hard I even tried, Gin, you know that," he says with a wink. Ginny blushed a nice shade of red as she kissed his cheek. "Cheesy," she muttered, although anyone could see the smug smile on her face.
"Sorry to interrupt, but people are really hungry, you know," Hermione said, a smirk plastered on her face. She could hardly hold in her laughter when Ginny shot her a death glare and Harry looked at her, traces of guilt on his face. The couple passed Hermione on their way out and she clambered after them, the portrait swinging shut after they climbed out.

The Great Hall was as full and noisy as always. Hermione sees Draco at the Slytherin table, who looked immediately over as soon as she walked in. Draco marveled at the way that she even managed to look so good early in the morning. He looked her from her soft brown curls to her slender body, to the bottom of her figure. Then he looked to her face, smiling at her chocolate orbs. Hermione blushed a furious red when she sees Draco looking her over and blushed even more when she notices him smile. She quickly tore her stare away and hurried over to the Gryffindor table where Ginny waited for her with a small smirk.
"So, Mione, I notice you staring at someone. Might I ask you who?" she asked slyly. Caught, Hermione muttered, she could've slapped herself at her carelessness. "Absolutely no one, Ginny," she muttered, avoiding her friend's eyes. Ginny raised an eyebrow and looked at the direction Hermione had been looking at. She saw Draco looking over as well, but his grey eyes weren't directed at her;they were looking more to the right, where sat Hermione.
Ginny looked slowly to her right and sure enough, her best friend was gazing back at Draco, her face blushing slightly. The thought and realization hit her like a ton of bricks. Hermione Granger, muggle-born, brightest witch of her age, part of the Golden Trio and bookworm, had a crush on Draco Malfoy, pure-blood, son of a no-longer here Death Eater, striking handsome male, and just as clever. She couldn't believe her eyes.
