Other the other hand, Draco's "girlfriend" broke up with him as well and he is broken. "Since when did you like Malfoy? Are you kidding me, 'Mione? I never thought you'll fall for him. Godric, his aunt tortured you! Wait, does he know you like him? Wait, does he like YOU?! I don't believe it. Why do you like him anyway? I won't think he'll like you though, no offense. I mean, he's a pure-blood, right? And you're muggle-born. But really, 'Mione? Him? Malfoy?" Ginny ranted, without pausing to take a single breath. Soon enough, her face was slowly turning red like her hair. Hermione groaned and buried her face further in her arms if that was even possible.
"Shut up, Ginny! I don't like Malfoy! Never in a million years!"
"Wait, Hermione likes that ferret?" A familiar voice drifted from behind the two girls, a voice that neither girls ever wanted to hear. Ginny looked back to see her jerk of a brother, arm in a sling, Lavender practically attached to his uninjured side. Hermione scowled at Lavender and turned her now blazing eyes at Ron.
"No one was talking to you, Weasel, so you can take your filth of a girlfriend and get out since no one wants to see you, much less be in the same room as you!" she spat. Ron ignored her words, clenching his jaw when she insulted his girlfriend, and repeated, "You like that filthy Malfoy?!" His voice became higher at the end.
"I think it's you whose the filthy one, running away with her and snogging her face off. Next second, you'll probably be in St. Mungos for surgery because your faces are attached to one another!" Ron's eyes blazed anger at those words. "Don't you dare talk to me and my girlfriend in that way! No wonder no one likes you, you filthy little mudblood!"
His words were met with silence, a stunned and shock silence filling the Great Hall thickly. Even the professors were silent, stopping whatever they had been doing. Ginny was outraged, as was Harry and Draco, whose grey eyes became stormy. Hermione was silent, her heart wrenching at hearing those words from the boy she had once love so much. She didn't run though. She stood up slowly, but swiftly and slid her wand out from her sleeve. Lavender had a short and frightened expression on her face and she slowly inched away from Hermione. Ron drew her behind him and faced Hermione with an even expression, showing no guilt in calling Hermione that name.
"Going to hex me, are you, mudblood?" Hermione suddenly laughed, a high-pitched and sharp laugh, ringing in everyone's shocked ears. She turned her hard blazing eyes at Ron. "You aren't the scared dumb wizard that Harry and I always had to protect of from before. What changed you? Wait, don't tell me, I actually don't want to know! Think you can do and say whatever you want now, being a so-called hero from the war and everything? Dream on, Weasel! You'll never be a hero in anyone's sane mind because everyone will always see you as the clumsy guy who can't even cast a single spell nor have the bravery to face a dementor because baby Ronald is so terrified of them!" Hermione spat all those feelings in his surprised face and glared at him.
"You aren't the guy I knew and loved. Instead, you're a fucking Weasel who is a complete COWARD!" Her wand was raised at him. She cried, "Stupefy!"
Ron was blasted hard backwards, crashing onto the hard floor 10 feet away. Hermione grabbed her things and rushed out of the Great Hall, ignoring the calls after her, fresh tears streaming down her cheeks. There was one person though, who ran after the broken witch, Draco, ignoring when Blaise called him back.
