Quidditch Tryouts
Chapter 9
I rolled out of bed. It might be strange that I woke up at 6 on a Saturday but, today was Quidditch tryouts! I wanted to get an early start. Tryouts were at 12 so, I wanted more time to study. I headed down to the Great Hall.
It was empty, as expected. I quickly ate an omelet and I went to my dorms to put on my clothes on and grab my books and assignments. When I was walking back to the dorms, I bumped into Abraham. I waited for him to say, "Watch where you're going, Mudblood!", but instead he said, "Sorry about that."
What?! How did Abraham talk to me without calling me a Mudblood? I just decided I had bigger fish to fry, so I got my textbooks. I did a lot of Herbology assignments, because they were boring and I just wanted to get them out of the way. I wrote a potions essay.
I was doing an introduction quiz, when Eleanor popped in. "There you are! I've been looking for you everywhere", she said, "Even though you've already ate would you like to join us at the Great Hall?" "No thanks. I'm really behind on schoolwork", I said. She just turned around and headed to the Great Hall.
Before long, it was time for Quidditch tryouts! I headed to my dorms, and I heard Callie's cry. "Sweet bird", I said, "Nothing's wrong, okay." I put on my Quidditch clothes and headed to the Quidditch Pitch. I saw Captain Kathy Pierce lining everybody up. I hurried onto the field.
"Okay everyone! Listen up! Everybody in this line wants to be a chaser. Last chance to leave this line if you don't wanna be chaser!" Kathy commanded. I moved out of the way. I was hoping to be a keeper, not a chaser. The chasers zoomed through the sky.
"Okay okay", said Kathy, "Kelly, Diane and Madison, be proud to have won the position of the new chasers. Alright, since no one has volunteered to be beaters, the same beaters as last year will compete. Alright! Keepers! Five Quaffles will betried to score. Your job is to stop as many as possible. Let's go! Rose, you're up first!"
I flew up to the hoops. Kelly threw a Quaffle at me. She tried to make it over me, but I flew up farther and caught it. Then, Diane threw one to the far left of me. I did a flip with my broomstick and caught it. Madison threw her Quaffle in a spiral. It was the hardest to catch. I had to have perfect timing to catch it. I caught the next two although they were hard to catch. "Good job! 5 out of 5 for a first year! Impressive!
No one could beat my performance. I was therefore called keeper of the Ravenclaw Quidditch team!
