The Wand Shop
Chapter 2
Today was the day. Today was the day I would get to visit Diagon Alley. Professor Burke called me over. "Okay", she said, "We are going to Apparate to Diagon Alley. Grab onto me." I had no idea what Apparating was, but I knew she didn't have time for questions, so I didn't ask. I felt like we were teleporting. I whisked through the air and I landed at a alley full of shops and boys and girls.
"Welcome to Diagon Alley", said Irene, "Right here, is this list of supplies needed for your first year at Hogwarts. Which of these items do you want to get first?" "When do I get my wand?" I asked rudely. "Right now. Let's head to Ollivanders", she decided.
I entered a room full of shelves. All of the shelves seemed to be holding wand cases. "Welcome", an elderly man said, "My name is Garrick Ollivander. Please choose a wand." I chose a wand on a lower shelf. "Ahh. Ash wood and dragon heartstring. 9 1/2" and nice and supple flexibility."
I waved my wand. Nothing happened. "We could do better than that", said Ollivander, "What about this? Elm wood and unicorn hair. 10 1/4" and unyielding flexibility." I waved that wand. The wand cases went crazy. "Alright, what about this? Vine wood and phoenix feather. 11 2/3" and a small amount of flexibility."
I waved this wand. All of the wands gracefully soared out of their boxes and made a beautiful picture. "Yes! This is the one!" I picked up my new wand and stared at it. It was beautiful.
"So, do you like your wand?" Professor Burke asked. "I love it! Can I get my owl now?" I asked. "The Owlery's this way."
