When I proceeded back to the Gryffindor common room, I couldn't stop thinking about today. How did I get chosen? How did I become the Hogwarts Champion? I didn't understand it. I wasn't that smart and wasn't very good with defense. Allison startled me. "Hey! Congrats on becoming the Hogwarts champion. That's a big honor." "Yeah, thanks. I just don't know how well I'll do. We can check out a lot of defense books", Allison told me. Her words calmed me down. I knew I would do just fine. And then I followed Allison to the library. "You still take Care of Magical Creatures, right?" Allison asked. "Always have", I replied. We checked out stacks of books. Stacks and stacks of books. All of the books seemed so useful. "Girls", said the librarian, "The maximum number of books that can be checked out per week is 50. You have 75. Which ones do you not wanna take?" We checked out so many books, we got cut off. I stayed up that whole night. I read all the books I could. I researched every beast I could. I was certain I was prepared for the task.
