Chapter 3
My dad dropped me off right outside Kings Cross Station, he was too ashamed to enter. He has been avoiding the wizarding world ever since he tried to sell Harry to the death eaters. I myself was slightly happy that he was not coming inside. Don't get me wrong, I will love my dad no matter what, but Harry's my friend and my dad almost killed him, and the worst part is that it was on purpose! I just don't want dad to get on the station and then see Harry, Ron or Hermione, it would be horrible for all five of us! I guess I'm also kind of embarrassed, my dad had been campaigning for Harry and then he tried to sell Harry out to the death eaters. I just hope that everyone doesn't judge me for my dad's mistake.

I got out of the car my dad had bought. He bought the car and got a muggle drivers license so that he could get around without using magic, that way he wouldn't run into too many wizards. I leaned through my father's heavily tinted, open window and kissed him on the cheek. "I'll see you during Christmas break." I say, "No, Luna, I want you to stay at Hogwarts for Christmas this year. I'm still trying to build myself up again and I don't want to ruin your reputation." My dad says grimly. "But dad, it doesn't matter if I don't see you over Christmas, people are still going to know that I'm your daughter!" I complain. "Luna, when you don't come to see me over Christmas, people will realize that you don't approve of the decision I made and that you're different from me." my dad rolled up his window so that I couldn't argue back. Fine." I said grumpily and walked around to the back of the car. I opened up the back and took out my trunk full of all my things. I gripped the door and slammed the back of the car shut. A girl walking behind me said "Hi Loony, You're in for a rough year at Hogwarts!" and she laughed and walked away.

As I wheeled my trunk into the station on a cart I thought about what the girl had said, I was in for a rough year at Hogwarts. Maybe my dad was right, hopefully he was. Maybe not seeing him over Christmas would convince everyone that I'm not just like my father. My heart dropped at the sight of the one person who could make all of this worse, Draco Malfoy. He had been a death eater after all, he could tell everyone exactly what my father had done just to make my life miserable. I decided to confront him, ask him not to tell anybody what he knew about my father. If he said no, well, I had learned a lot of great spells in the D.A. meetings. I walked straight towards him, he saw me coming and to my surprise he sighed, sighed, he SIGHED instead of looking angry or smug! Well he deserves it, why would he look smug. I read the Daily Prophet, the only reason the Malfoys didn't get locked in Azkaban is because they apparently deserted V-Voldemort before he was defeated. So he shouldn't look smug, but still why is he sighing at me?

"Hi Luna," He said, I stopped in my tracks. Luna? He called me Luna? Malfoy used to always call me Loony! What has happened to him over the summer? Has he maybe had a change of heart? "Hi Malfoy," I said walking towards him again. "Please don't call me Malfoy anymore." he said. "Why?" I was confused, Everyone had called him that for as long as I can remember. "Well, you'd understand, sort of. My parents made some stupid mistakes, so did yours. But I made those same stupid mistakes and now I'm embarrassed. We all came to our senses just before he died so we barely escaped Azkaban but it hardly feels like it. We've all been cooped up at home trying to avoid the rest of the world. We've disgraced the name of Malfoy and I don't want to be called that anymore, because that name is also a disgrace." I hated Draco Malfoy but I found myself feeling sorry for him. "But your house is huge, I would know, I've been there." I said bitterly. "Yeah, sorry about that. But all three of us were feeling miserable. At night I hear my parents have a go at each other. It sucks. I don't think they're getting violent but... it's hard to listen to. My mum blames my dad for leading the family into dishonor and corruption. My dad tells her that if she hates it so much she could leave and get a job. My mum hates working, but if she could leave and not have to work, she might." I listen to Draco's story and feel my eyes start to tear up. Not wanting to show him that he made me emotional, I bend over and pretend to be tying my shoe while wiping my eyes on my sleeve. "Do you really think your mum would leave?" I asked standing up. "Yes." said Draco darkly. I want to say something to him about how I feel sorry for him, but I can't figure out how to say it. "Well, I just wanted to ask you to please not say anything about my father to anyone, I'm trying to recover from that and so is he." I braced myself for the no, thinking about what spell I should use against him, when he takes me by surprise "Sure, I understand. Me and my family are trying to do the same thing, aren't we?" he says. "Yeah... I- I guess so, yeah." I stutter. He smiles at me. "Okay, bye then Malfoy." I say starting to back away dragging my trunk, "It's Draco now, remember?" he calls back to me. I smile then wave and turn to face the barrier between platforms nine and ten.
