Chapter 15
My first day back was better than I expected it to be. I noticed that a lot of people were calling me Luna instead of Loony. And I had most of my classes with Ginny. I tried to ignore Makayla but I couldn't help but notice that she seemed very nervous about something. I went on with my work and by the end of the day, I was satisfied with the way my first day went.

I returned to the common room after dinner and saw Makayla sitting in a chair, tucked away in the corner. She was looking sadly out of the window into the beautiful sunset. I sat down far away from her and took out my books to do some homework. Gradually the common room emptied as students went to bed, but I wanted to finish my homeword first, I hated leaving homework for later. When I had finally finished my homework I glanced around the room, at first it appeared empty. But then I saw that Makayla was still looking out of the window onto the dark grounds. I walked quietly across the room and onto the spiral staircase that led to the girls dormitories. I crept up the stairs and slipped into my dormitory. Alexis and Isabelle were already asleep and Isabelle's snores filled the room. I quietly changed into my pajamas and got into bed. Blanco walked silently toward my bed and jumped up purring. He laid down somewhere near my feet. I slowly drifted off to sleep.

I woke up and could tell that I must have only been asleep for an hour or so because it was still so dark outside. I looked around for the source of what had awoken me. I soon spotted it, Makayla was bustling towards the door, she looked scared. I was curious about what was scaring her and why she was out of bed, so I followed her. She hurried into the common room and into the corridor outside. I followed her down four flights of stairs and down into the dungeons. She entered the potions classroom, I stood outside and looked through the door which she had left ajar. I saw Professor Slughorn sitting in a comfortable looking chair. He motioned to a potion on one of the desks, Makayla picked up the smoking goblet and drank it all. I realized that she was about to turn to leave seconds before she did. I managed to hide in a smaller chamber until she walked past. I slipped out of the chamber and followed her back up the stairs and into the entrance hall. Makayla threw open the front doors and walked quickly outside, glancing at the watch on her wrist as she did so. I followed her into the crisp, fresh air, Makayla was walking quickly towards the Forbidden Forest. I followed her silently, the full moon providing enough light to see Makayla clearly in the dark.

We entered the Forbidden Forest and Makayla, glancing down at her watch again, sped up. We walked for what must have been 30 minutes. Makayla came to an sudden stop in a clearing. The trees all around us casting tall, dark shadows. I crept behind a tree to watch Makayla so that I wouldn't be spotted. Makayla glanced nervously at the full moon. A few minutes we stood there and then it happened. Makayla's ears became pointed, her back became slightly hunched, her nose turned into a snout, and hair started growing on her arms, legs and face. Makayla was a werewolf!

I stood there, frozen with shock and fear, my heart was pumping fast. But then I realized, Makayla had taken a potion. It must have been the wolfsbane potion. She was harmless, unless she wanted to cause harm. And I wasn't sure she wouldn't want to harm me, but she would probably find some other way to harm me. She wouldn't bite me, she wouldn't want to turn me into a werewolf. But I still stayed where I was until the creature- I mean Makayla curled up and fell asleep. I slowly and silently crept back to the castle, my heart still pumping fast. When I got back to my common room the last thing I wanted to do was sleep, but I knew that if I stayed in the common room Makayla would grow suspicious. So I returned to my bed but I didn't fall asleep until one in the morning.
