Chapter 14
That morning I woke up and deeply regretted staying up so late the night before. Dean and Seamus were already changing into their robes. I scrambled out of bed and grabbed my robes out of my neatly packed trunk, my Gran packed it for me, that's why it's so neat. I had finished getting dressed when Harry and Ron finally woke up. "Do you reckon we might finally have a normal year this year?" Ron asked as he grabbed his robes from off the floor. "We never do, do we?" Harry replied. "Yeah, but this year's different, you-know-who's gone for good." Ron said pulling on his robes. I walked out of the room and into the dormitory, neither Ron nor Harry seemed to care that they were talking about Voldemort, they didn't notice that it might make some people... sad. I sat down in a chair that was hidden in a corner and thought. I watched as students passed through the common room on their way to breakfast.
I checked my watch, it was 7:30, I should get to breakfast. I walked into the Great Hall and immediately spotted Luna tucking into a plate of eggs and bacon. I sat down beside Hermione, there were two people in between Ginny and I. I could hear Ginny saying happily to her friends, "Oh look! We've got almost every class with the Ravenclaws!" I examined the expressions on her friends faces and saw that they didn't look nearly as excited as Ginny. I even saw one of them mouth the words "With Loony?" at one of the other girls. Rage was pounding through me, I threw my fork down onto my plate, my eggs untouched.
I wanted to yell at the girl, didn't any of these people realize that Luna is not Loony! She's smart, strong, unique, brave, kind and so much better than any of these people who keep calling her Loony! I glared at the girl for a few minutes then I picked up my fork again and tried to eat, but I wasn't hungry anymore. I stood up and swung my bag over my shoulder, I was about leave the Great Hall when professor McGonagall came hurrying towards me. "Longbottom, here's you're schedule." She handed me a piece of paper with all of my classes on it and walked away. I looked down at my schedule and saw that I had Charms first. I looked to see what classes were missing, the ones that I had failed my O.W.L. on. I saw that I no longer had Transfiguration, History of Magic, Potions and Divination.
I was glad I didn't have Divination anymore, I thought as I walked out of the Great Hall. I was getting tired of Professor Trelawney predicting everyone's death and only bad things. And as for Transfiguration, Gran said she would let it slide since I had fought to well at the Battle of Hogwarts, it also probably had something to do with Professor McGonagall sending her a letter last two years ago. I wasn't surprised that I had failed History of Magic, I didn't listen very well, I tried to take notes in the beginning but it was just so boring. Professor Binns used the same tone and he didn't even need to stop for air since he was a ghost. Even though Snape won't be breathing down my neck, I don't really like potions that much. It's too precise, I like the classes where if you make a mistake it won't end up with the teacher feeding it to your toad.
I walked to the Charms classroom and sat down waiting for class to start. I don't know how long I sat there but soon other Gryffindors and some Ravenclaws were lining up beside me, I stood up. I was ready for the bell to ring, but it didn't come. I noticed a few people shifting their feet impatiently, I looked up and down the line. I spotted Harry and Ron near the back of the line, I went and joined them, checking my watch as I went. "The bell should've rung ten minutes ago." I informed Harry and Ron. Just then Professor McGonagall came walking down the corridor, she spotted us all lined up outside the Charms classroom "The bell is still not working after the battle, you can all enter your classroom now." She said briskly then set off to inform more students. We all walked into the classroom, and I was thinking about the Battle of Hogwarts again.
