Chapter 9
In Ireland, during the Irish war of independence in 1919, many people fled in secret to escape the chaos, for they thought they would never be free of British rule. Among these people was young Nevaeh Miracle, a spunky 18 year old who wished for adventure, and so she found it. Nevaeh, her mother, her father, her sister Miriam, her brother Moses, and her dog Lucky set out in a stolen ship to find a oasis in which to live in peace.
They sailed for many days without any sign of land when finally the ship bumped into a strange outcropping of an island that resembled a spiral. Nevaeh volunteered to see if it was safe and so she climbed the spiral until she reached the top and found a rainbow in the sky. Seeing it as a sign of peace, she told her family that it was safe and so they started a small civilization she named Old Town, for she knew it would stand for a long time. She named the island Éna kaló méros. She named it in honor of her grandmother, who taught her Greek. Her father sailed back to the mainland to tell the people who wanted to leave Ireland of their island. Eventually, Old Town was not large enough and so the three other cities were built. Éna kaló méros has forever been known as a place of goodness and peace.
