Chapter 3
I stood over him ready to take the winning shot. I hated doing this but you have to do what you have to do. I reached up curled my hand into a fist and hit him square in the head. I watched as his head slumped forward and blood trickled from his nose. I raised my arms victoriously, as all around me the people cheered. I had been doing this for about 3 years now. It got easier every day. As I walked off the stage I eyed Mr. Shackerns. I had beaten Brody, so I should get about 550 dollars. I walked over to him and said "Pay up." He smirked as he handed me money. "I think about 300 should be appropriate." I grabbed his shirt "550 or I mess up that pretty little nose of yours." "Fiesty today aren't we," he said handing me the 550. We did this every Saturday. Me threatening him, him giving in. I took the money and walked out. Great. It was raining. All my money went to my Dad, so I had no car. My roommate Everly was always offering to pick me up afterwards, but I hated being dependent on people. So that left one choice. Walk. In the rain. "A crappy end to a crappy day," I muttered as I started. Of course, it was like 10 at night, but I wasn't scared. After 3 years of fighting big, burly men, you become tough. I was about half-way there, a white truck ran by me splashing me with water. "Thanks, a-holes!" I yelled after them. What? I was mad. The truck swerved then screeched to a stop in front of me. Out hopped 4 boys? They looked like men. Very hot men. And then I remembered how they had splashed me with water and what a crappy day I was having. "What?" I snapped.
