It was already winter. Mother's health is getting worse each and every day. Our father didn't bother to provide her medicines or herbs. "Mother, are you sure you can manage by staying home alone? You're not really that well, I can stay home with you." I asked, I was a bit worried to left her alone. Sythia had gone to work. Yes, she quit school and become the breadwinner of our family. "Yes, yes, I can manage myself. Now, you go to school. It's been 2 days since you left school. The teacher might be mad." Mother tried to convince me. 'Yeah, right. The teacher didn't even realise I was in the class the whole time before.' "Okay then, I'll go. Goodbye, mother. I loved you! I'll be back right after school, 'kay?" I winked. My mother smiled back. I took a one, last glance at my mother. That's it. Before the DISASTER happened.

I walked home. It is very cold and I hope mother is doing fine. I stepped in front of the main door and get my keys. After I opened them, I realized something is wrong. It's too quiet. I made my way into the house. "Mother? Mother, are you here?" I called out. Just when I stepped into the kitchen, I felt my knees were all wobbly. I dropped my bag. Turns out, my mother is lying, moveless. I shook my head a few times. I made my way and checked her pulse. 'There's a pulse, but it's too faint'. Around her neck, there's this purple-ish lines that went through her veins. 'Poison. But who the hell tried to poison Mother?!" I asked, hysterically. My mother slowly opened her eyes. She spoke to me, "Rosie..?" "Yes, I'm right here, mother. Wait here, I'm gonna bring you to Sythia. She's good at handling poisons." I jolted up the stairs and took a cloak for my mother. I tied the ribbon and pulled her helpless body onto my back; giving a piggyback. I rushed outside and started to run with my mother on my back. The air is cold;it felt like someone's squeezing my lungs. We were trying to go to my sister's workplace. From afar, I could see some lights coming. But I was already too exhausted. My nose is bleeding profusely, and I started to feel dizzy, my eyes are droopy and I felt heavy. I dropped onto the snow. I crawled to my mother's side. She still has a pulse. "I'm sorry. Sorry for not being there during the times you need me. Sorry.." I started to cry. "It's alright. I never blamed you. It's better if you were not there, actually." Her voice begin to slow down. At that moment, I knew that the poison had entirely spread through her body and she is now so close to dying. Just then, a voice approached. "Mother? Rosie? What's going on?!" She shrieked. It's my sister. She knew that mother was poisoned and quickly took out her poison-treating kit. But my mother insisted on saving the medicine. "I'm so close to dying. It'll be a waste to use the medicine.." her voice slowed down. We started to cry hysterically, screaming for her to not go. "Stay strong for each other, alright? I'm sorry that I can't shower you with love, care, or affection that you needed...". That's it. That's her last words. She closed her eyes; never opening them again. We cried our eyes out, screaming for help. There's no pulse anymore. "Oi, what are you two kids doing here?!" That's my father's voice. He looked at us and saw mother. "Tch, so that woman's dead,eh? Better for me now. That's less one mouth to feed." He mocked. I was furious. I pushed him and yelled, "Shut up! How is that suppose to be better for you?! You don't deserve someone as nice as my mother!". He frowned and pulled my hair, shouting, "Shut it! Who do you think you are?! Shouting to someone who took care of you! You're just the same as that woman and that man, always ungrateful for what they've got!" Words slipped and he realised he said something wrong. He let go of me and carried my mother. My sister and I shared looks; looks of confusement, looks of question. We ended up not saying anything all the way back home. My father is a great actor, he acted crying whatsoever in front of our neighbours, asking for help.

It's Mother's funeral. Before starting, our father warned us, if we cried, we know what's gonna happen. We just agreed. I was sweating like crazy, since I was holding back my tears. After the funeral, my father packed his things. He said, "The both of you didn't mean anything more for me! I'm going away from here!!". Then, he left just like that. We both were very shocked. We didn't expect things to happen easily. Suddenly, an owl arrived. It's holding a letter in his mouth. I took it and saw my sister's name. "Hey, Sythia, this letter's for you." I said. Sythia read the letter and suddenly, her eyes brightened. "I, I got accepted at Hogwarts!" "What?! Wow, you should go!" I said, I'm happy for her. Suddenly, her eyes dropped. As if she's dissapointed or sad. "I don't think I'll be going." "What?! Why? Not everyone get the chance like this, you know?" I was shocked. "I know, but, I can't just leave you here. What if Father came back? Besides, I don't have money to buy the school supplies. We're not financially stable, Rose.." She said, her eyes were all glossy. I'm sad, too. "What about mother's money in Gringgot's? We can use them!" I said. "No, Father changed the inheriter's name from ours to his." She frowned. I was so mad. "Then, let's get a job! We'll work, and when the time came, the both of us can go to Hogwarts!" My eyes shining. She smiled, agreed to my suggestion. "Yeah, we will survive this. We promised that we will stay strong for each other, right? So, we'll do it together!". I smiled.
