Having grown an orphan her whole life, Raya was very conscious of Hagrid's size as he invited her to sit down at a nearby picnic table. Actually her thoughts were, 'he could mug me and knock me unconscious in a second' but she sat down any way.

"So Raya. It may be usual that you show signs of disbelief after we finish talking, or you even think that I am crazy, but you must know I am telling the truth."

Raya snorted. "What are you? A psychologist? A counselor? One of those mind reader people?"

Hagrid just smiled and stood up, then motioned for Raya to follow him into the corner store.

She followed him in cautiously, and stared at the rows of candy, chips, junk, and some essentials.

Hagrid began to walk down the aisle of candy and Raya followed him.

She began to eye a sandwich when Hagrid looked back at her and smiled.

"What kinda sandwich you wantin' missy?" he asked and Raya blushed.

Hagrid walked over and pulled out a ham sandwich; Raya nodded. He pulled out another one, and then walked over to the freezer full of drinks. After a minute of contemplating, he picked out two lemonades, then came back to where Raya was; in the candy aisle.

"What d'er you want?" he asked, and Raya shyly motioned towards a Mars chocolate bar.

Hagrid picked out the Mars bar and a package of little candies called "Sherbet Lemons".

He purchased the items, then beckoned Raya to follow him back outside.

After they'd sat down, Raya snorted.

"Is this what you do? Buy people lunch and then mug them?"

Hagrid stared at her like she was crazy and passed her food over to her.

"Now Miss Moon, do listen closely. I knew yer parents, they were the nicest people. Yer mother's name was Celine and yer father's was Trevor. Anyway, they died in a...accident."

"You knew my parents!?" Raya asked, delighted, for she had never heard about the people who'd raised her.

"So, there's this place, it's called Hogwarts. It's a school of sorts for wizards and witches; people with magic. Lucky for you, Celine and Trevor both had magic, and therefore, you have been invited to Hogwarts!"

Raya stared at him open-mouthed.

"Why should I believe you?" she asked.

Hagrid slid over a letter.

"Ya been awarded a scholarship so ya'll getta bunch o' free stuff, not ta mention that Hogwarts has free food every day of the year and gives ya an education."

Raya glanced over the letter. Seemed real. She thought over the prospect. Free stuff. Good. Free food. Definitely good. An education. She'd always wanted that. Why not?

"Fine. I'll be at that place that it says on the letter at that time." She told Hagrid.

He grinned at her.

"Nope. We gotta get yer school supplies. T'mrow can yeh meet me here?" Hagrid asked.

After a moment, Raya nodded.

"Good, in the meanwhile, I've arranged a ride for yeh to get to the right place at the right time. Mrs. Jifcic is gonna pick yeh up somewhere...we haven't decided yet."

Hagrid got up to leave and Raya kept eating. She would sleep here, just to be sure she'd make this "free stuff" trip.

Hagrid tossed a five dollar bill onto the table before disappearing.

Sandwich and lemonade finished, Raya glanced at the five dollar bill and smiled, then got up to get more food.
