Hello Henry
Chapter 3
Henry wrinkled his nose as he chomped up some breakfast; he didn't actually know what he was eating.
He heard his mother's voice in the living room and froze. He never saw his mother as she had left him to live with his grandmother when he was five.
His mother, Aspen, was a Squib and she was sure that her kid would be perfectly normal. Well, she had been wrong.
With Henry's Dad freaking out and Aspen not knowing what to do, they'd dumped him off at his Nana's house where "the witch would know what to do".
But as Henry stepped out of the kitchen, sure enough Aspen and his father were sitting on the couch, chatting away to his Nana. Henry pushed himself onto the couch beside his Nana and stared at his parents.
"Hello Henry," Aspen finally said, smiling a little. His dad nodded at him.
"Um -hi?" Henry replied uneasily.
"So Cole and I were thinking of adopting," Aspen continued, now talking to her mother. "We don't want another you-know-what in our house, not that you were that hard Henry darling," she finished. "What do you think?"
"Aspen, if you are talking about wizards and witches in that matter, why are you sitting here with Henry and I?" Nana asked.
That was when Henry decided his parents still didn't care about him, so he slipped off the couch.
"Nana, I'm off to my room."
"Alright darling, but we're off to Diagon Alley soon, your Nana has to get a couple ingredients for a potion she's making," Nana replied.
Henry heard Aspen whisper "He hasn't gotten the letter yet! Maybe we'll have to take him back, Cole."
Henry grunted and tightened his fists, muttering under his breath.
When he reached his room, he plopped onto the mattress and opened up a book he had found in the room; which had previously been his mother's.
"Are you a Squib? Here's what to do!" Shone in big bold letters. Henry wasn't sure if he was a Squib or not, but he had decided to read the book anyway.
As he flipped through a story of a happy Squib managing life, he heard a crash on his window. Looking to the side, he opened up the window and peeked his head through. Nothing.
Sighing, he sat back down and continued reading until he realized that a presence, other than himself, was sitting in the room as well. He looked up, and was startled to see a big owl holding a letter.
A letter.
The owl dropped the letter, Henry took one look at it, and then went running out of his room.
"I made it! Nana, I made it to Hogwarts!" He stopped short at the scene in the living room, though.
